Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Director of Enterprise Data & Analytics Platforms and Architecture to lead the design, development, and governance of our enterprise-wide alternative data platform ecosystem. This individual will be responsible for driving platform strategy, fostering innovation, and ensuring robust data architecture that empower multiple products, data science embedded modular solutions and decision capabilities to power business decisions, scalability, and operational excellence for worldwide HR and Financial Services professionals.
As a strategic leader, the Director of Data Platforms and Architecture will oversee the implementation and optimization of cutting-edge data technologies & solutions, establish best practices in data platforms and governance, and provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams. You will work closely with stakeholders across business, IT, and data science teams to align data architecture with organisational goals, enabling seamless data acquisition and advanced analytics capabilities.
This role will be responsible for leading all the technical design and embedding of a resilient solution as effective data platform architecture that is reusable and manages the data services for Obliq Intelligence platform services.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and drive the long-term vision for enterprise data platforms and architecture, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with company executives and directors to identify opportunities for leveraging alternative data as a strategic asset for financial services and human resources.
Data Platform Oversight:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of modern data platforms, including cloud-native solutions, data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time processing systems.
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and high availability of the data ecosystem with future-proof architecture to support growing global business needs.
Architecture Design:
- Define and implement enterprise data architecture standards, including data acquisition, modelling, integration, and API frameworks.
- Optimise workflows and pipelines to ensure efficient and secure data ingestion, processing, storage, and access.
- Foster a data-driven culture by ensuring architecture supports self-service analytics, internal tools and business intelligence dashboards.
Team Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of data acquisition engineers, data engineers, and front-end and backend developers.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
Emerging Technologies:
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends in data platforms, AI/ML, Agent AI and big data.
- Proactively evaluate and recommend new technologies that enhance data capabilities and drive business innovation.
Hands-on Development Support:
- Partner with IT, analytics, products and data quality teams to identify data needs and translate them into actionable platform solutions.
- Ensure product architecture and solution designs reflect the needs of the enterprise and work closely with the Enterprise Architecture, ensuring alignment with group architectural strategy, standards, and policies.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of major architectural initiatives - from ideation to implementation – focusing on scalability, performance, and security at every stage.
- Design and manage cloud- and data science driven AI system-architectures for complex corporate customer solutions, ensuring technical strategies align with business requirements and deliver measurable value.
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, or platform management roles, with 5+ years in leadership positions at self-service enterprise data platform companies.
- Expertise in modern data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).
- Proven experience in enterprise-level architecture design and implementation.
- Hands-on knowledge of database systems (SQL/NoSQL), ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling techniques.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to share and communicate ideas to executive staff, technical resources and other key constituents in clear, concise language.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, agile environments and balance long-term strategy with short-term execution.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in software architecture with recognised expertise and thought leadership in one or more areas: enterprise self-service data platforms, AI system architecture, cloud-native frameworks, large-scale distributed systems.
- Multinational corporate experience at major data science, analytics or data intelligence firms, leading the end-to-end lifecycle of major architectural initiatives from ideation to new product launch.
- Domain knowledge in one or more areas: investment management, systemic factor investing, IR & Signal quantitative research, labour economics, talent intelligence, online gaming industry benchmarking and metrics.
- Expertise in multiple modern programming languages and environments such as Java, Javascript, Python, Go, and related modern technologies.
- Advanced knowledge of software architecture and cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, GCP) with a strong focus on scalability and performance optimisation.
- Proven success designing and implementing large-scale, distributed systems using modern cloud platforms and technologies like Kubernetes, containers, microservices, AWS, Azure, GCP.
- Fluency in English, with strong communication skills to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across region.
- Fluency in additional APAC language(s) a strong plus (Chinese, Japanese, Bahasa Indonesia, Vietnamese, Malay).
- Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Azure Data Engineer, etc.).
- Experience with AI/ML technologies and data science platforms.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience.
